Philadelphia Eagles Select ATX As Its Primary Internet Service Provider
New York, NY - July 16, 2002 - ATX Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: COMMD), a leading integrated communications provider, has been selected as the Philadelphia Eagles' primary Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the 2002 season, expanding a longstanding relationship with the organization.
The Eagles are utilizing a 1.54-megabyte Internet connection through a full T1 at the NovaCare Complex, the team's state-of-the-art corporate headquarters and training facility. This one-year agreement follows the recent announcement that ATX was selected as the Eagles' local exchange carrier and inter-exchange carrier service provider for the 2001 and 2002 seasons, extending an eleven-year partnership between the two organizations.
"Partnering with ATX has proven to be a smart business decision for the Eagles," states John Pawling, Manager of Information Systems for the Eagles. "Selecting ATX as our ISP was a natural progression for our relationship."
"The Eagles' success both on and off the field is reflected in the spectacular NovaCare Complex, and ATX is excited to be a part of it," comments Tim Allen, ATX's Senior Vice President, Business Sales. "We're proud to be selected as the Eagles' ISP, and we look forward to bringing a new level to this great relationship."
The 108,000-square foot NovaCare Complex opened in March 2001. The Complex features several amenities, including an 8,000-square foot, state-of-the-art weight room, a players' lounge outside the locker room, new meeting facilities, a 196-seat theatre/auditorium, and new offices for Eagles management.
About the Eagles
Formed in 1933, the Philadelphia Eagles (now known as the Philadelphia Eagles LLC) are presently owned by Jeffrey Lurie. Serving as the club's Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Lurie purchased the team from Norman Braman in 1994 and was named NFL owner of the year just one year later by The Sporting News. Led by President Joe Banner, the Eagles forged a partnership with the City of Philadelphia that resulted in the construction of the new football stadium set to open in August of 2003. A member of the 32-team National Football League, the Eagles play in the National Football Conference's East Division, boasting some of America's largest television markets with New York ranked first, Philadelphia fourth, Dallas seventh, and Washington, D.C. eighth. Off the field, the Eagles are recognized as a leader in the community. Last season the Eagles won the NFC East division title and went on to earn a berth in the NFC Championship Game.
